Day 5 – Avignon with Pope’s Palace, garden and the bridge

Start off your adventure in the picturesque Provence with a trip to Roussillon. Get ready for the unique landscape, including its red and yellow ochre cliffs! Don’t miss out on roaming through the open-air provençal market (on Thursdays only). Your passionate tour guide will take you to Gordes as well – one of «the most beautiful villages in France». For lunchtime (not included) you will get a break in Fontaine de Vaucluse, where you can explore its impressive spring resurgence of the Sorgue river – a truly remarkable natural site. Continue to Pont du Gard – the best-preserved aqueduct of the Roman period – which has earned recognition from UNESCO. Later, be amazed by Les Baux de Provence, perched on a rock at 245 meters high with a historical pedestrian center. There you can explore their 16th-century houses and St Vincent Church at your leisure. On the journey back to Avignon, make sure to take some snaps at Saint Rémy de Provence with its Triumphal Arch and mausoleum situated amidst an olive-tree field.
