Grand Hotel Minerva is a 4-star newly refurbished hotel with a long history that dates back to 1869, when it was a inn for pilgrims. In the 1950s the property was completely revamped by the renowned architect Carlo Scarpa, and it is from that period that the hotel’s current design draws its inspiration.
The hotel’s exclusive rooftop pool with a jacuzzi is not to be missed, offering the perfect stage for some sun-drenched relaxation and panoramic views over Florence. There is also a lovely bar where guests can enjoy drinks and snacks overlooking the facade of the Church of Santa Maria Novella.
Breakfast is served in the light-flooded cloister room facing the inner garden, and features a “Tuscan corner,” for a deep dive into the local culinary tradition since the early hours of the day. Later, the in-house Bistrot La Buona Novella offers classic Tuscan and Mediterranean dishes revisited with a modern twist and paired with an extensive wine list. And to counteract any over-indulgence, there’s a fitness center with a large jacuzzi hot tub.
A recent refurbishment saw the Grand Hotel Minerva’s 97 boutique rooms decorated in contemporary style with wooden flooring, soft colors, and tailor-made furnishings and textiles by Tuscan master craftsmen. All are equipped with soundproofing windows, marble bathrooms, hi-tech features and boast views over either the inner courtyard or the city’s landmarks.
