A tour to discover two little towns home to two signature ingredients of Italian cuisine: Parma Ham and Parmesan Cheese.
Start with Langhirano, a town famous worldwide for producing the exquisite Prosciutto di Parma DOP, which has a museum entirely dedicated to it. In addition to the food aspect, Langhirano offers a visit to one of the best-preserved fortifications in the region: Torrechiara Castle. It was built between 1448 and 1460 by Pier Maria Rossi in honor of the beloved Bianca Pellegrini.
Then continue to Soragna, famous for the splendid castle built by the Princes Lupi in the XIVth century. The section open to the public houses a beautiful cycle of Renaissance frescoes.
A few minutes walk from the castle is the Parmigiano Reggiano DOP museum, housed in a traditional "casello", the old name of the dairies that produce this specialty.
