Visit some of the key sites linked to the Allied landing operations that marked the turning point of WWII in Europe

During WWII, the Normandy coast became the stage of one of the biggest military assaults in history, the D-Day landings, with which the Allied forces initiated a fierce battle that led to the liberation of France. On this tour, you'll visit the two American landing sites accompanied by an expert guide who will tell you all about what happened on this stretch of coast on 6 June 1944 and how the battle developed. The itinerary will take you to the Sainte-Mère-l’Église Musem, which honours the American airborne units and their role in D-Day, and Utah Beach, where the first American troops landed and today there's a museum chronicling the operation with an exhibit that includes an authentic B26. Additionally, you'll see the site of the German artillery gun battery at Pointe du Hoc, which was taken by US Rangers and still bears traces of the battle in the form of bomb craters. The other site of the American landings is Omaha beach, where things didn't go as planned: allied bombardments failed to penetrate the solid German defenses, and thousands of US soldiers died. Lastly, you'll visit the American cemetery in Colleville, the final resting place of 9,386 American soldiers who died in Normandy.
